First Day Back Home

Morning Update

Rene is very happy to be out of the hospital and back home. She is still a bit weak from the chemo and this is expected. The blood transfusions have aided with her breathing much easier and I expect her to be much more perky by this evening. It took a bit of adjusting to sleeping in own bed instead of a hospital bed. She had room, it was flat, and she didn't have wires hanging off her! She has an appetite this morning and ate well, just ate a little last night. Her abdomen is fine with no pain and we will try more solids by Tuesday with her.

Fun Observations
  • Rene enjoyed standing in the shower this morning with hot water and her own shampoo
  • The marks of all the needles from her biopsies could be seen, looks like a rugby player after a tough match on the pitch
  • She has the remote control....life just got better!

Hi! Please give Rene my best wishes and say that I miss her at Souvia when I play guitar there each Friday pm. I hope she continues to improve and will be able to have a cup of tea there again before too long. Bye!

WELCOME HOME!!! Glad to hear that you are home and feeling better. You have been missed. And am looking forward to seeing you soon. The flower we got you are looking a littel wilted.

Thomas Aquinas once said that life's troubles could be mitigated by "a little rest, a hot bath, and a glass of wine." Well, until that liver gets back in shape, it will be no wine for Rene'. For now, you will have to be satisfied with the feeling of intoxication derived from the pleasure of Eugene's company and the quiet determination that can only come from having such a hand to hold as we go through trials like this.

The path you are on is one well-travelled. But the dimness of this shared experience is illuminated by the richness of your life.

Be well, and God's will to a quick recovery. We will be watching and praying.

I thought you had returned when I felt the good vibes coming from the east and filling our home. Then I saw Eugene's face looking softer and happier and I was sure. Welcome Home Rene.
Keep holding on to each other, as you know that is what will make you well.

Rene and Eugene,

Glad to hear Rene is home. It has to be better to heal at home than in the hospital - the animals alone should make it a better atmosphere / environment. As others have said I too am checking the blog daily. Hugs and kisses and healing thoughts from all of us.
