Who Moved My Cheese?

Baby Steps

Rene is completely free of IV pumps at the moment and any medicines she received via an IV are given orally. Since there are not many medicines she is still moving in the right direction with her recovery. It will be awhile before she gets her strength back to get herself out of the bed, walk, or out of a chair without assistance. She committed to exercising to get her strength back and she has discovered that any routine will "wipe her out" at the moment.

She jumped into getting solid foods along with her soft/liquid to build herself up again. Sores still exist in her mouth and they are not inhibiting her from eating, drinking, or providing pain. She has routine established to manage this and it seems to be working for her. Emotionally, she is getting back to her usual bright and cheery self and all the nurses and other staff beam about that to me. I know everything before I get to her room about her condition because they stop me to let me know. She is their favorite patient at the hospital!

Great news!!! Like I said, it WILL get better!

Has pe given her any small exercises to do in the bed? There are some leg ones that were given to me that might help in strengthening those leg muscles. I will talk to you tomorrow.

Love, E

Rene and Eugene,

Wonderful news! I'm glad to hear that Rene is on a track to be home in the near future. I am in Minneapolis this week for work with my boss - his brother has a form of non-hodgkins lymphoma and has a web site that has a link to a lot of the research he's done. I wanted to pass it on: www.haganroost.com.
