A Good Day

Rene got to watch and enjoy the Braves defeat the Mets to reclaim the NL East lead again. Additionally she did not receive a leukine shot today because leukine causes the "baby" white cells into the blood stream, her doctors want the mature ones instead. She did not need to receive any blood or platelet transfusions.

The Numbers

• Her ANC increased from 500 to 650
• Her white blood cell count increased to 2.0 from .9 yesterday
• Her temperature got down to 99 from the 100.3 of yesterday
• All other vitals are normal

Gadgets

She received a new smart phone today, Cingular's 8125 so this keep her occupied for a bit. I think I may be unleashing a new "prosumer", once she becomes more comfortable with it. It will be interesting to watch her get comfortable with Microsoft's ActiveSync now! I am not sure what she will do with her Palm Pilot and Nokia 6030...I sure I will find out however!

Family Jewels Marathon

She is catching up with the hi-jinxes of Gene Simmons and I think gaining even more respect for him with each episode. She couldn't stop laughing about the situations he managed to get himself into. I think she is very surprised that he is a protective father which landed him into bad ski day!

Keeping Up

Between friends stop by or calling as well as receiving cards and letters, Rene is maintaining a great mental state. She does have her dark moments and they are moments not days. She is still learning more about the effects of chemo and how to cope with it.

I got her to wear her mask yesterday and walk around the floor which was a boost. Today, with the help a friend, she donned the masked and went to the ground floor to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather. Seeing one of our close friends from NYC who is now living in L.A. was godsend for her yesterday.
