Emotions = Janus
We are discovering that the impact of chemo treatment can be very frustrating for the patient. Rene is noticing an "out of body" experience with the treatment and she doesn't like the feeling of not being in completely in control! Who can blame her for feeling this way? She is supposed be "inside" her body, not "outside" watching it.
Pick Me Ups!
Thank you for all the cards, flowers, stuff animals, books, Easter baskets, and calls that you are providing to Rene. This is the type of mental medicine she needs and it is working. Her brother's Easter basket of goodies brought out the kid in her yesterday! Additionally, one of her favorite nurses was on for the overnight so instead of sleeping, she chatted up the night with her...women (my apologizes)!!
Medical Front Stuff
- New catheter equals no pain...joy-oh-joy
- She is finishing up her last bag of chemo and then she won't be hooked up; watch out, she can now be mobile!
- The diuretic is working and the swelling in her legs and feet should become smaller by Monday
- "Here is your pill", "I don't want to take it", "You need to take it", "I don't want to"; she took it and discovered she felt better...what a concept!
Over from her room is a visiting area and not too many people know about it. So if you come to visit her, walk over the where the Exit sign is and you will find her. She had her new nurse in a slight panic that she lost her patient at the start of her shift!
I have more to share with you so check again later today!
